A client recently reported to me a billing dispute and deceptive business practices by Sun Diego RV which is also known as Rice RV. According to its website, Sun Diego is an RV parts, service and rental business. Sun Diego enjoys an “F” rating with the Better Business Bureau (“BBB”) and a 1.5 star rating on Yelp.
My client reported that she rented a motor home from Sun Diego and that they delivered the wrong one. Dissatisfied with the service, my client reports that she returned the motor home after the first night. Nonetheless, my client reports that Sun Diego charged the credit card an additional $445 for the 2 unused nights and has another $500 block on the credit limit.
After 36 hours without a return phone call nor reply email, I finally reached a live person. Rather than acknowledging any wrongdoing, the phone attendant questioned my client’s religious beliefs and accused me of being a dishonest attorney.
The BBB and Yelp complaints are consistent with what was reported to me. According to the BBB, Sun Diego formerly sold RVs as well. However, more than one owner reported selling a motor home on consignment with Sun Diego and not receiving payment for several months. One owner had to make a claim against Sun Diego’s bonding company, which seems to have resulted in the loss of Sun Diego’s right to sell as a licensed DMV dealer.
If you have been victimized by Sun Diego RV, you should strongly consider filing a small claims lawsuit to resolve your dispute.
