The Office of the Sheriff for the County of San Diego has
existed since 1850. In addition to general law enforcement
duties for the unincorporated areas of the San Diego County
and certain Cities, the Sheriff's Department handles security
for the local county jails. The Sheriff also provides security for
the local courts and is the central repository for restraining
orders and warrants.
